Tracing Blueprints

Tracing Blueprints is a series of wall pieces that question the concept of site specificity through the use of opaque concrete and transparent silicone as a means of overlaying conflicting sites to create new hybrid spaces. Each piece consists of a frame made of folded metal sheets and concrete bars that enclose the artwork. Within each frame is a silicone drawing representing altered blueprints of either my childhood home or the ArtCenter building, where the exhibition takes place. One of the pieces combines both blueprints, reflecting the concept of overlapping sites and their mutual influence. The transparency of the silicone material allows viewers to perceive a new hybrid blueprint that emerges from the layering of these two spaces.
