Puerto la Paz 85

Puerto la Paz 85 is a video installation in which Pérez Rea guides the viewer through the construction of her childhood home and the many tribulations of its history; from the emergence of Cancun as a capitalist city in 1970, Hurricane Wilma's devastation in 2005, a massive Ponzi scheme in 2007, and her parent's divorce in 2010. The video's narrative addresses the external factors that mired the home's construction, which resulted in the artist never actually living in what was supposed to be the family's "dream" home.
